Roles and function of an educational media center





Educational Media Center functions as a visual instrument as well as a basic requirement for quality education by enriching all parts of the school's educational process. It reflects and supports the philosophy of the school.It involve in the teaching and learning process.It is a source center .It is a learning laboratory.It is a teaching agency. It is a service agency.It is a coordinating agency.It is a center of recreational, viewing, and listening and it is a stepping stone to other community resource centers.
It serves a myriad roles and functions  and services  such as:
  • Orientation-All teacher are given an orientation on the Educational Media Center.The students are also given an orientation on their first Media Instructional Program class.
  • Selection of print and non-print materials-The librarians continually select and acquire print and non-print material that suits the needs, interest, and special abilities of the students and teachers.
  • Organization of print and non-print materials- A technical librarian organizes all the purchased print and non-print materials for easy retrieval.

Assessment in constructivist , technology-supported learning


          Authentic assessment is the most appropriate for the constructivist classroom.It measures collective abilities,written and oral expression skills,analytical skills,manipulative skills,integration, creativity, and ability to work collaboratively.With the kind of assessment, students perform real world tasks. It is an assessment of the process or a product.The performance is the reliable measure of skills learned and the product is the proof of the acquisition of skills. In doing authentic assessment, the teacher should make use of of the scoring rubric in order to objectively observe and evaluate student's performance.With scoring rubric, the standards are clearly set at the beginning the teacher and the students. With rubric,the student can assess her or his progress.In this case the much fear foe the test gets dispelled.Assessment is the natural and normal part of the learning process. There are no more secrets on how students will be tested,what kind of question will be asked.The students themselves know how their progress gets assessed.

USING THE PROJECT- BASED LEARNING MULTIMEDIA AS A TEACHING LEARNING STRATEGY
This project based multimedia has many steps to be used.We used this strategy to enable the student to remember  and understand better content as they perform real world tasks.As a future teacher i would  choose to use the  best strategy that fits on my lesson so that we will end up the class where learning of my students are present.

PROJECT- BASED  LEARNING AND MULTIMEDIA.WHAT IS IT?
Project based multimedia learning is a teaching method where students acquire new knowledge and skills in the course of designing, planning, and producing multimedia product.The elements of project base multimedia  learning are Core curriculum from the word core to  emphasize that project based multimedia learning should address the basic knowledge and skills all students are expected to acquire, and should not simply  be an enrichment or extra credit activity for a special few.
The disadvantage is that don't lose track of your lesson objectives because the technology aspect has gotten the lime light.

MAXIMIZING THE USE OF THE OVERHEAD PROJECTOR AND THE CHALKBOARD
We are now in a generation where  technologies that makes our life comfortable were developed.Just like overhead projector  where most of the teacher used, although  it is very versatile equipment they used it because it is simple to operate and no need to write on the board and it is time consuming.Chalkboard  is present in all school , it is also used by the teacher. In using  this make sure that you will follow the correct  practices of a dedicated professional teachers it is very needed in its effective use.

TEACHING WITH VISUAL AIDS
I understand that in teaching the teacher should use visual symbols like drawings, cartoons, strip drawings, diagrams, charts, graphs and maps.In drawing it is good that our drawing is correctly represents the real thing.In cartoons it tells the story metaphorically.Strip drawings these are commonly called  comics or comic strip.In using strips make use of of the strips that are educational and entertaining.Diagrams shows arrangement and relations.Charts is a diagrammatic representation of relationships  among individuals with an organization.Graphs is also related to diagram.Maps is a representation of  the surface  of the earth or some part of it.In my over all understanding in choosing what visual symbols to use  in every lesson be sure that it is representable and knowlegeable.

THE POWER OF FILMS, VIDEO, AND TV IN THE CLASSROOM
We are now in a new generation that inventions of new technology were developed.Tv is one of the example of technology.It is very useful to us because through watching television we are aware of the happenings in our environment.Some said that these technology were disadvantageous to us,that it makes us lazy but there wrong.Using films, Video, and Tv in the classroom is a big help to the teachers because through using these the students will be motivated, they will attentively watch the video instead of talking.And as a future teacher i will use these technology.

Making the most of community resources and fieldtrips

Not all learnings can be found inside the classroom.Presenting  pictures of animals or others inside the classroom cannot satisfied the learning of the students.Making the most of community resources and fieldtrios is helpful because students will have a direct  purposeful experience.In conducting fieldtrips make sure that you plan it well and it must be related to your lesson.That all the questions of the students will be answer.As a future teacher i must plan wisely the activities if i will conduct a fieldtrip.

DEMONSTRATION IN TEACHING
In demonstration it is better to learn a little a lot.If you see that there are too many points to tackle in a demonstration, it may be best to divide the demonstration into two parts.The task of demonstration is not a monopoly of the teacher.Students when taught,guided and helped can also turn out to be excellent demonstrators.One reminder in demonstration is ''Do not hurry your demonstration.

Teaching with dramatized experienced
Something dramatic is something that is stirring or affecting or moving.In my own understanding a dramatic entrance is something that catches and holds our attention and has an emotional impact.Dramatized experience can range from the formal plays,pageants to less formal tableau,pantomime,puppets and role playing.If teaching is dramatic, our students get attracted, interested and affected. But if you let your students dramatized something and even you do not know how to dramatized, you cannot give suggestion to them so its useless for you have no idea about that.
